When Böddi returns to his home village, in the North of Iceland, after 10 years of academic life in Germany he sets out to change the mindset of the local people. Through his blog he preaches highbrow ideals mixed with Viking Era romanticism which both amuses and confuses the locals.
Rokland used both the former Nato hospital for hospital scenes and local bar for bar scenes. Both locations are within 500 meters of the main studio building.

On a cold night in March 1984, a few miles off the South Coast of Iceland, a fishing boat sank with it all its men. One of the crew members miraculously managed to survive, by swimming to shore. After five hours in the ocean, the exhausted young hulk washed ashore, only to find himself on a deadly, uninhabited lava field. The film depicts his journey and how he survived through the aftermath.
Ocean scenes were shot at the Atlantic Studios using the available swimming pool. Local harbors were also used for filming boats at sea.

Today Atlantic Studios is officially open for business. Located in a freshly renovated building at the recently abandoned US military base by Keflavík International Airport, it’s only five minutes away from the Air Terminal and about half hour’s drive from the capital.
The studio building features a 2.220 sqm. sound stage with spacious production support areas and a 7.000 sqm. studio lot. The facilities are aimed at international and local filmmakers alike and by far the biggest of its kind in Iceland.
Atlantic Studios offers access to a swimming pool for underwater filming, a cinema, a typical American high school gymnasium and to various street locations in the vicinity. In the area is also a small supermarket, a gym, a nightclub and a golf course.
The first film shot in our studio was the horror/splatter movie Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre. The story centers around a group of tourists who go whale watching, but after an accident and a rescue they face a horrible ordeal on an old whaling vessel. The whaling vessel’s gruesome interior was built in our studio as well as the interior of several other locations.
